We got to Sea World about when they opened, looked around not sure what to do first. We decided on the Dolphin show, that was amazing! Those Dolphins sure know how to have fun and play jokes, and jump really high! They had a volunteer family come up from the audience, the "mom" got to touch a dolphin, shake fins with it and pull out a rope to give the Dolphins something to jump over. The dad made friends with one also and the little almost got to swim with them, it was a joke though, they wouldn't really send a 3 yr old little girl named Cecilia out to jump into 26ft deep salt water! They did however say, lets get a picture with the little girl and a Dolphin, told "mom"to get her camera ready and she got up on th edge of the bridge to get a good shot and fell off into the water. The audiance gasped and she screamed and the dolphins helped her swim to the side it was then we found out she wasn't really the "mom" she was one of the trainers pretending, the dad and the little girl really were from the audience though! Perfect crowd teaser! We saw the sharks and walked in the tunnel uder the water tank, played with the sea lions the birds would comeand take our fish right fromthe kids hands, one cut Trevins finger stealing a fish and another scared Alison pretty good. The Sealions sureare"noisey neighbors" we then hit the last half of the Sea lion show, Risky Rescue and it was cute so we went back and saw the whole thing at the endof the day. The birds who were everywhere from seagulls to pigeons and even pelicans, anytime a fish box was left open anywhere in the park you could bet the birds were getting into it and eating asmuch as they could before they were caught! We grabbedsome lunch and thekids all wanted Shamu Cookies, only $3.59 each, for that price I needed a picture!
Then the big show!! SHAMU!! The first twenty minutes were great, the kids and Jarin went to sit in the "splash zone" they wanted to get wet when the killer whales did the "Shamu Slam" I went and sat with Jarin's parents and CarliAnn at higher ground! We enjoyed watching the trainers show off the skills they had taught these amazing animals. Unfortunately the show ended early. At the point that they took all the whales out of the front pool to get ready for the next segment, a few birds camein to see what they could find, a brown pelican just landed on the water and sat there as they brought the whales back in, all of a sudden on whale went right up to that pelican, we thought it was going to scare it away but instead it opened its mouth grabbed the bird and took it down under the water! After the display at the dolphin show we weren't sure what to think, was it meant to happen?? All the Killer Whales went under the water, all feasting on their find. They wouldn't answer the trainers at all! Finally one came to her trainer, the poor trainers hand was bright red from slapping the water, that is the signal for the whale to go to the trainers. Finally one went to it's trainer and they had it wave bye with both fins to let us know the show was over!! The trainers then finally got the wahels attention and lured them out of the performance pool and into the back pool. Then then one poor trainer had to go into the water and gather up the "pieces" left behind of the poor bird.
After wards we went on the water ride, the kids wanted to go so badly and I agreed to go with them, it was fun!
We then went to see the last show of the Sealions. It was great, these sealions perform with trainers in a skit about a sinking ship, the sealions are part of the crew! Then at the end they find the Admiral, a very large Albino (I'm guessing) sealion! We loved it!
We saw so many other things, the shark exhibit, we walked under the water in a tunnel and marveled at the shark teeth as they swam over our heads! We fed and petted both dolphins and sealions. The birds were always close by to steal our fish though, Trevin and Alison each got fish nabbed from there fingers when trying to feed the sealions ( Our noisy neighbors), even got a little nip at Trevin's finger.
It was a fun day, rained some in the mrning but mostly overcast the rest of the day.
