It has been acouple weeks since I posted last, too much life going on and I am just trying to keep up! Everyone is good though and getting excited to go to Disneyland next month, it's all the kids talk about! All that I think about is all that has to be done! Right now the cars are top priority!! My van has been without ABS brakes since Ali's baptism and needed new tires (got those a few days ago) and a new winshield. All must be done to pass inspection in Feb and before our trip! Jarin's has been running really rough like it's missing a cylinder, he has tried some things like new spark plugs, a fuel additive (thought their may be water in the fuel tank) and changed the fuel filter. When none of that worked he was going to take it to dad for help and wanted to steam the engine first, dad always likes it clean under the hood and coments if it isn't! He steamed on a very cold day last week and used WD40 on the cap but it wouldn't start afterwards, they worried he had water in the distributor and it wouldn't dry out just turn to ice. So my dad stopped at my house on his way home from a job in Wendover and took it out to Jarin to help but when again nothing worked they had it towed to dad's house. Jarin went over on Friday and Saturday and they went through the books list of things to do for the problem and at the end is said "if everything else checks out it is the ignition module" so they took it out and had it tested and it was fine after 6 tests at Autozone. So they tried the very last thing they could, the computer brain. Jarin drove all the way downtown to get it and it didn't work!! So we decided to have it towed to a shop for diagnostic, when Jarin and my dad tried to get it out of the garage to make it easier for the tow guy, it started!! Dad couldn't believe it! They just drove it over to the shop while it was working, still rough though, but saved a tow charge!! The guy called yesterday and told Jarin he had found the bad part, an oxygen vacum sensor! Hooray, something simple or so we thought! Jarin went straight to Checker to find the part and they swore his truck didn't have it and gave him a diff one, they were sure he just didn't know what he was talking about! He went to the shop and they looked at it and sure enough, wrong part but it was the part that sat on top of the bad one. So Jarin comes home to look on the internet for the part and can't find a single 'blow up' image that has that part for his truck. He found one site that told him most vehicle with fuel injection system like don't use that part! I had to laugh when he was looking around on the internet getting frustrated and said "funny how they think they know my truck better than I do" I said well, they do ave the blueprints! So today he gets to drive to the dealership and hope they can help. In March we will look into getting a newer truck for him, since then he will be done with school and be able to focus on finding the right truck for the right price! Aren't cars FUN!
