We had a fun day! As per tradition we headed out to Jarin's parents house for our annual bbq and water fight. We had alot of fun! The kids wanted to get in on the water play but at first didn't like it when others got them. Alison hadn't gotten wet at all yet and took a squirt gun over to where Daddy and CarliAnn sat in the pool, as she went to squirt CarliAnn (or so she says) Jarin decided to hit her with a small bucket of water, she was totally shocked and ran crying into the house! She got a towel and came back out but lets just say it wasn't the only time she was hit with water and didn't like it! She got into it to though and had fun getting others.
Tyler was having fun till one time it hurt and he came over crying. For the most part though he was having fun egging others on so they would get him, especially Aunt Lyndsay! Once he followed her with the hose trying to fill up the blue container she was using, she told him to stop and she didn't want more water in it but he followed her in a circle filling it with the hose just giggling! Finally she told him that was it and chased him to through it on him. When everything was done and we started to clean up he decided he wanted to get her again, he was told not to but did it anyway! He was just asking for it and loving it!
CarliAnn and Trevin had fun playing in the pool, Trevin wouldn't even get out to eat till the end, so we had to heat up a hot dog for him. Carli wasn't sure about the water at first but Daddy got in with her like he does every year, heck if you are already in then others getting you wet is no big deal. Others still loved to dump cold water on his head though! Before really getting in the pool, Carli took it upon herself to get the balls around the yard and put them back in to pool! She didn't like it much when she brought two to put in and her cousin dumped out six!
I was in charge of dessert this year so I tried a two layer Jello poke cake, covered in cool whip with the new Starmallows on it to make a flag. It was delicious and big! I also brought sherbet to go with it. Jarin's mom also bought a chocolate cake to celebrate my upcoming birthday , she likes to celebrate on the 4th so that she doesn't forget, I think it's fun! We had tons of cake and everyone could have their fill.
As it got dark we watched fireworks in front of the house, Carli kept saying "scary" over an over again as she clung to me for dear life. I tried to tell her they were pretty and sparkly, she then said slowly "pretty.....scary" Too cute! After the fireworks each of the kids got a box of snaps, Carli loved stepping on hers to make them pop!
When it was time to leave the older grand kids got to stay and spend the night in a tent with grandma in the backyard. The next morning grandpa made them all breakfast, french toast, sausage an eggs on the camp stove. Lots of fun! I took Trevin and Carli over in the morning for breakfast.
